LIEF is a Ugandan family founded organization, made of two generations of the descendants of Valentine and Venturina Olama from Pangere Village, Orussi Subcounty Nebbi District, Uganda. In establishing this foundation, LIEF founders commemorate their parents and their late brother Charles Okellowange ,remembering their principles of hard work, integrity, godliness ,dedication and love for their family and community and most of all ,with the Objective of making a difference in the lives of people from the community they came from. Founded in 2018 in Kampala Uganda, LIEF seeks to tackle social problems with urgency and a long term approach to create access to opportunity for people and communities.
Over the years the demand for support for vulnerable children ,girls and women in poor communities and rural areas increased and this prompted the official registration of the Foundation so as to continue meeting the demands placed by income inequality that exacerbates poverty leading to inequalities due to lack of access to basic needs such as food, healthcare, housing ,education and unemployment in our communities especially in suburban areas and rural communities in Uganda and other third world countries. Uganda remains one of the poorest countries in the world with more than 12.3 million people living below the poverty line, with proportions of vulnerable people increasing by 10%. (Afro barometer report 2022).
Despite efforts for government to alleviate poverty, there is still a huge gap that exists in all sectors of Education, Health, Empowerment and Livelihood to mention a few and thus the need of development partners both national, local and international.
